Be Student-oriented

4th Japanese Speech Contest for STEP and OASP students

On January 19, 2017, HUE held the 4th speech contest by short-term exchange students at the presentation court in MEITOKUKAN.

Exchange students from Poland, Vietnam, Taiwan and other countries made a speech about the society in Japan, their experience for 6 months, introducing their countries in Japanese.

Every student tried hard to accomplish making a speech in Japanese: some recited without script, some spoke as if making an address. We could see that they practiced a lot. We asked some of audience about how they found the speeches by the international students. They answered they would study hard to acquire as a good command of English as international students’ command of Japanese. We were assured that a good presence of international students affected to a motivation of Japanese students for learning through the speech contest.

After the all speeches, five judges who were assigned randomly from the audience evaluated speakers. Following five students won awards as a result.

From left, Kim Byunggi (Korea), Cojutti Cyril (France), Pham Thi Thanh Binh (Vietnam), Sroka Anna (Poland), Szegiera Pawel (Poland).

Most short-term exchange students would go back upon completion of this Fall/Winter semester program but hopefully they would keep learning Japanese even after going back to their home country.
