Doctoral Program/Hiroshima University of Economics

Work toward a Master and Doctor of Economics, developing advanced research competency and scholarship skills.

The Doctoral Program aims to instill advanced research skills and facilitate high-level scholarship for the achievement of independent research results. Candidates enroll in the Graduate Program for 5 years (including the 2-year Master's Course) to undergo the necessary research-related courses and guidance specified by the Program Regulations of Graduate School of Economics, for which they receive 36 credits.

A doctoral dissertation is then submitted and, after screening of the dissertation and a final examination, successful candidates receive the degree of Doctor of Economics. A doctorate may be awarded to certain students ahead of the regular schedule whose period of attendance at the graduate school is more than 3 years (at the two-year Master's Program can be counted) and who have shown outstanding research performance.
